To your social argument, I would add that concurrent innovations in economic organization shouldn&amp;#39;t be ignored: A shift from an agricultural economy to a manufacturing economy. Exponential growth in industrial production, entirely new markets created to absorb product. Identities shift from &amp;quot;citizen&amp;quot; to &amp;quot;consumer.&amp;quot; Similarly, perhaps one cause of your &amp;quot;new movement&amp;quot; is the recent/ongoing shift to a post-fordist economic paradigm.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1761481062799905743/4125776095447155280/comments/default/8200597892490468754'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1761481062799905743/4125776095447155280/comments/default/8200597892490468754'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.prettygoodcity.com/2009/06/space-shift-historical-perspective.html?showComment=1246326700248#c8200597892490468754' title=''/><author><name>e</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.prettygoodcity.com/2009/06/space-shift-historical-perspective.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761481062799905743.post-4125776095447155280' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/1761481062799905743/posts/default/4125776095447155280' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1897622482'/></entry></feed>
